That’s what I got to know by checking out Original Sound Version recently:

While rumors have been going around all day regarding Silent Hill series composer and producer Akira Yamaoka leaving Konami, OSV has received official confirmation from Yamaoka himself. This is huge news for the gaming industry, as Yamaoka has been one of the biggest critics of the Japanese gaming industry. It will be interesting to see what he does if he decides to work freelance in the gaming industry.

Watch in the coming days for an extensive interview with Yamaoka on this move and his future plans. Will he continue working on Silent Hill? Will he be working on a solo album? Will be focus on music or game production? We’re just as anxious as you are to know more!

Are you surprised by this announcement? Do you think Yamaoka is going to focus on music or production moving forward? (Source: OSV, AP)

What a shock. I wonder what will happen to Silent Hill from now on. I’m looking forward to other great projects by Yamaoka but to tell the truth I don’t want another iFUTURELIST.

It’s sometimes pretty difficult to find accurate information on game music. For this reason I now start with an old but beautiful and well composed piece: Secret of Mana ORIGINAL SOUND VERSION (not soundtrack). For those who don’t know: Secret of Mana in known in Japan as simply Seiken Densetsu 2 and was once released for SNES. Secret of Mana is the most popular part of the Seiken Densetsu series and has been re-released as a mobile game in 2009.
